A 2013 Fragrance Foundation Hall of Fame perfume, Red Door was composed in 1989 by Master Perfumer Carlos Benaim to commemorate the famous "red door" of the Elizabeth Arden Salon on Fifth Avenue in New York City. This is an elegant and refined floral for women with notes of Orange Blossom, Anise, Peach, Carnation, Tuberose, Ylang Ylang, Honey and a base of Heliotrope, Benzoin, Cedar, and Sandalwoodand epitomizes luxury.

RETURN POLICY:
Damages: If an item arrives damaged it must be reported to us within 48 hours of delivery. Hold on to the item and packaging for 2 weeks. We may contact you and/or pick up the package & merchandise. Once the claim is approved we will reship the damaged item or issue a refund.Missing packages: If an item isn't received you must notify us within 3 days of delivery (as noted on tracking information). We will start a tracer which will take 8 business days to complete. Once approved we will reship the order.Undeliverable Packages: If an order is returned to us by the carrier for any reason including but not limited to (refusal, undeliverable, unavailable to sign) we will issue a refund for the items cost minus a shipping charge (cost charged by carrier to return item).

Red Door is a fragrance I have a lot of history with. I started wearing it in my teens (in the 90s) and wore it regularly for years, so it will probably always have a nostalgic place in my perfume collection. I don’t reach for it nearly as much anymore, and I still think the original formulation from the 90s was better, but I genuinely enjoy the current version.

This is definitely a fragrance that draws strong opinions…people either seem to love it or hate it. It’s a big, classic floral with rose, lily of the valley, freesia and orchid, along with warmer notes of honey, sandalwood and amber. What I especially love is the dry down…it becomes beautifully powdery, warm and slightly creamy, with that unmistakable vintage perfume quality that I still find really comforting.

Red Door is absolutely not a perfume to be heavy-handed with. A couple of sprays are more than enough, and overspraying can quickly take it from beautiful to overwhelming. When applied lightly though, I think it’s a really lovely, feminine scent. And despite how polarizing it can be, it has consistently been one of my biggest compliment getters…even to this day.

Insanely headache-inducing for me. It smells undeniably dated -- I've caught this exact scent on older people in my life over the years, which gives it a nostalgic quality I actually appreciate. Unfortunately I just can't handle it...
